Description
The HVLED002 control IC provides the necessary
features to implement off-line or DC to DC fixed
frequency current mode control schemes to
implement LED drivers. Internally implemented
circuits include a trimmed oscillator for the precise
duty cycle control, undervoltage lockout,
a precision reference trimmed for accuracy at the
error amplifier input, a PWM comparator which
also provides current limit control and a totem
pole output stage designed to the source or sink
high peak current. The output stage, suitable for
driving N-channel MOSFETs, is low in the off-
state.

Description
1 COMP This pin is the error amplifier output and is made available for loop compensation.

VFB
This is the inverting input of the error amplifier. It is normally connected to the
switching power supply output through a resistor divider.

ISENSE
A voltage proportional to the inductor current is connected to this input. The PWM
uses this information to terminate the output switch conduction.
The oscillator frequency and maximum output duty cycle are programmed by the
4 RT/CT connecting resistor RT to VREF and the capacitor CT to ground. An operation to
500 kHz is possible.
5 GROUND This pin is the ground reference of the device.

OUTPUT
This output directly drives the gate of a power MOSFET. Peak currents up to 1 A
are sourced and sunk by this pin.
7 Vi This pin is the positive supply of the control IC.

VREF
This is the reference output. It provides the charging current for the capacitor CT
through the resistor RT.
