Ardrox 6412
Aircraft exterior cleaner
Scope
ARDROX 6412 is a liquid concentrate of low foam biodegradable surfactants, coupling agents, alkali
builders, sequestrants and corrosion inhibitors. When diluted with water it gives a low foam product
primarily used for cleaning the exterior surfaces of aircraft. ARDROX 6412 is used for the removal of
grease and oils, dust, sooty deposits and other impinged soils found on various aircraft exterior surfaces,
both painted and unpainted.
ARDROX 6412 has an extremely powerful cleaning action and may be used at much lower
concentrations than many conventional cleaners.
ARDROX 6412 does not leave the white residues after cleaning which are associated with some
detergent cleaners.
Chemicals required
ARDROX 6412
Method of use
ARDROX 6412 is used diluted with water at ambient temperatures; the level of dilution being in
accordance with the severity of soiling. The following dilutions (by volume) are a guide only:
Light soiling
1 part ARDROX 6412 plus 33 parts of water
Moderate soiling 1 part ARDROX 6412 plus 20 parts of water
Heavy soiling
1 part ARDROX 6412 plus 10 parts of water
(e.g. exhaust tracks and thrust reversers).
For very heavy soiling use as-supplied.
ARDROX 6412 solutions should be applied by spray using suitable equipment or by brush or swab.
The solution should be allowed to remain on the surface for 5 to 10 minutes and, if necessary, it can be
agitated with a brush or mop to assist soil removal. The surface should then be rinsed thoroughly with
clean water.
The product should not be allowed to dry before rinsing, as less effective cleaning will result.
ARDROX 6412 may also be used as a steam cleaning additive at a concentration of 0.5 to 1 part of
ARDROX 6412 per 100 parts of water.
ARDROX 6412 can be used in a tank facility to clean and decarbonise engine cowlings, thrust reversers
etc.
